Tralee, ACT
The NSW Government announced in April 2007 that it will adhere to the ACT Sub Region Planning Strategy, through its decision to proceed with an initial development of 2,000 homes centered on South Tralee, to the south of Jerrabomberra in Queanbeyan. In 1998 after 8 years of studies and public consultation the Federal Government, the NSW Government, the ACT Government and Queanbeyan City Council formerly executed a 25 year regional planning strategy which endorsed Tralee as the centre for the future growth of the southern areas of Canberra and Queanbeyan. Taking it’s lead from Government, Village Building Co. then invested in land acquisition and planning for that area, in accordance with this cross border agreement. Following a further 6 years of study and very detailed public debate and consideration, the NSW Government has decided to proceed with the strategy recommended by Queanbeyan City Council.
VBC will now work to stabilise regional land prices, to enhance housing affordability and choice, to dramatically improve water recycling, to diminish demands on the potable water supply, to deliver the Anglican secondary high school, aquatic facility and other community facilities for the people of Jerrabomberra and to ensure the upgrade of major roads connecting Jerrabomberra to the ACT and Queanbeyan.
The company will now work in a cooperative manner with the Jerrabomberra community and the Queanbeyan City Council in particular, along with the ACT and Federal Governments, to enhance regional growth and to maximising the efficiency and amenity of the urban infrastructure.
