Australian Capital Territory
Existing VBC projects are quality residential estates and apartment developments. As the lifestyles and expectations of Australian home buyers change, greater emphasis is now placed on the delivery of the final built form to the market as opposed to vacant land. Our fully integrated urban developments are achieving excellent market acceptance as well as excellent returns.
Proximity, ACT
Proximity is Village Building's latest medium density housing venture. Located in Bruce on the approach to Canberra Stadium and the Australian Institute of Sport, the first two stages of Proximity are a mix of one and two bedroom apartments, and ranged in price from $215,000 to $337,000. The development has commercial space on the ground floor with a hairdresser, beautician, cafe and physiotherapist due to open for business in late 2007. The final stage will be released in late 2007 offering one and two bedroom apartments and commercial space.
Brindabella, ACT
The affordability of housing in Canberra has taken a turn for improvement with the new release of Brindabella. Brindabella will embrace the latest design technology, and ensure the most efficient use of water in maintaining public open spaces and reduced energy consumption. Brindabella will also offer a range of housing options for all ages and income brackets.
Stromlo, ACT
Stromlo Village is being built on the remains of the Stromlo Forestry Settlement which was devastated by the Canberra bushfires in January 2003. Prior to the bushfires there were 20 Government owned housing sites that housed families associated with Canberra’s historic forestry industry. Of these 20 Government houses, only three remained after the bushfires.
VBC is rebuilding the village for the ACT government and returning the 17 Government houses destroyed in the fire, the expansion of the village will total 41 housing blocks.
VBC has sold 21 private blocks to balance the cost of the redevelopment of the 17 government houses being rebuilt and returned. All private lots at Stromlo have now been sold. The Government housing is under construction and will be completed, allowing previous residents to return home by Christmas 2007.
