Village Brings Voices to the Forest

Village Building are proud to bring 'Voices to the Forest' to Canberra. The National Arboretum will provide a stunning backdrop to the first musical concert to be held in the natural amphitheatre.

Launched by Chief Minister, Mr Jon Stanhope at the Arboretum, “Voices in the Forest” will feature international and local acclaimed singers, including Sweden’s world famous  mezzo-soprano, Anne Sofie von Otter, Australian mezzo-soprano Christina Wilson, soprano Louise Page and tenor Henry Choo.

New homes released to meet demand

Following unprecedented interest for homes in the highly anticipated release of The Fair in Watson, Village Building have announced they will release both Stages 1 and 2 this Sunday. Two further stages consisting primarily of apartments will be released at a later time.


Initially 61 homes were planned for release in Stage 1 this weekend. As a consequence of the volume of enquiry, Village Building will now release a total of 152 homes which comprises one, two and three bedroom homes and one and two bedroom apartments. Many of the homes have views of the majestic Mt Majura Nature Reserve located adjacent to the site.

Collaboration produces positive community outcome

Village Building, North Canberra Community Council, Friends of Mount Majura, Watson Community Association and The Conservation Council ACT Region have reached an agreement on additional conservation and traffic measures to mitigate impacts to areas around the proposed North Watson Heritage Village estate.

Agreed initiatives include the establishment of a walking trail and interpretive displays in the Mt Majura Nature Reserve, the establishment of an enforceable community pet containment policy, and the active engagement and education of community residents to create awareness of, and appropriate behaviour in environmentally sensitive areas of the Reserve.

VBC wins 'affordable home of the year' award.

Village Building has won the 2009 HIA ACT/Southern NSW Affordable Home of the Year for its Brindabella at Macgregor homes. This is the second year running that Brindabella has been awarded Affordable Home of the Year, in addition to being the national HIA Boral Greensmart Resource Efficiency winner.

More smiling faces as demand for affordable housing in Canberra continues

Village Building Company sold fifty four affordable two and three bedroom homes last weekend in Canberra. Demand for affordable housing remains exceptional in the lead up to the $7,000 reduction in the first home owners grant on 1st October which is just twenty three days away. The majority of the weekend’s sales were priced under $360,000; with an average price of $312,000. Nearly 75% of sales went to first home buyers.

First home buyers countdown for $21,000 boost

First home buyers are being encouraged to take full advantage of the Australian Government's $21,000 First Home Buyers Grant before it is reduced on 30 September 2009. VBC's latest development, Parkside at Dunlop, offers first home buyers an opportunity to buy into the Canberra housing market with 49 homes being offered for sale priced between $249,900–$379,900.

Stonebridge affordability appeals to Canberrans

On Sunday, August 2 The Village Building Co. released its latest affordable housing development — Stonebridge at Franklin. As part of the release, 83 two- and three-bedroom homes were available for purchase, starting from $324,900 for two-bedroom homes, and $334,900 for three-bedroom homes. By close of business on Sunday all 83 properties had been sold, with an average price of $355,000.

VBC releases apartments priced from $259,900

Last affordable blocks at Brindabella released

The last affordable housing blocks were released at Brindabella at Macgregor on Sunday the 17th of May. Sixty-one house and land packages starting at $329,900 went on sale to registered purchasers. Over one-third of the packages were sold.

More than three quarters of the lots offered for sale on Sunday were priced under $350,000, with 17 of those lots sold.
