A four-year study that began in 1998, found Green and Golden Bell Frogs living adjacent to a pond in a disused quarry in the estate. Initially, two frogs were found. Subsequent monitoring has revealed fluctuations from no frogs to six frogs in any given year prior to establishing our breeding ponds. Hence, our breeding efforts have yielded spectacular results with several hundred juvenille frogs now in the area.

We have worked with the National Parks and Wildlife Service in establishing a permanent and viable frog colony at Edgewood. The existing degraded habitat, adjacent to an old brick pit, was dramatically upgraded by building a new habitat in an environmental protection zone, where a viable ongoing frog population is more likely to survive.
