John Thame

John Thame was the Chief Executive of Advance Bank until it merged with St. George Bank in 1997. In this role he was involved in merging Civic Building Society (Canberra), and Canberra Building Society into Advance Bank in 1986 and 1990 respectively. He is Chairman of the Abacus Property Trust Group and Reckon Limited.
Robert (Bob) Winnel

Bob spent his first ten years of employment in the NSW and Commonwealth public service, before starting his own development company in 1976. He is a Director of the heritage listed Brassey Hotel in the ACT. Bob has held various ACT private sector representative positions and ACT Government advisory committee roles. Prior to forming VBC, Bob built 800 homes in the ACT. He was Chief Executive of the MBA ACT during the builders’ labourers deregistration and is also a past President and life member of the MBA. In 1988, Bob drew together leading Canberra business associates to form The Village Building Co. Limited. He is a significant Shareholder in VBC.
John Hindmarsh

John Hindmarsh has over 40 years'experience in property, construction and business investment in Australia and overseas. he attended Sydney Grammar School before graduating from the University of NSW in 1965 with an Honours Degree in Building. He holds an "A" Class Building License in the ACT, is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Building and an Adjunct Professor at the University of Canberra. John is Executive Chairman of Hindmarsh, established in 1979. The company has an annual turnover approaching $500M and operates in project and construction management, general contracting, property development, car park management, retirement village operations and investment syndication. He is Chairman of Australia Capital Ventures Ltd, a Director of Canberra Air Pty Ltd, ACT Government Honorary Ambassador for Canberra and a Life Member, current Member and past Chairman of the Canberra Business Council Executive. John is also a past President of the ACT Master Builders and has held a wide range of ACT Government appointments and ACT private sector representative roles. He is a significant VBC shareholder. John Hindmarsh is a long-time supporter of the arts and is a Member of the National Gallery of Australia governing Council, as well as Chairman of the National Gallery of Australia Foundation. He was recently appointed Chairman of the Cultural Facilities Corporation of the ACT.
John McCarthy AO

John McCarthy joined VBC’s Board of Directors in February 2005. He is widely recognised as an industry leader. He has a significant breadth of experience across various commercial and industry disciplines. He enjoys a close working relationship with major banks, superannuation funds, institutional investors, financiers and senior professionals and property analysts, as well as many industry bodies. John served as inaugural Chair of the Australian Sustainable Built Environment Council. He is Australia's first industry representative on the International Board of the International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction and in 2010 was appointed its Chairman. He is Past National President of the Property Council of Australia. In 2009 John was awarded the Order of Australia. John works out of Sydney as Non Executive Chairman of AEH Property Pty Ltd as well as undertaking a number of governance positions.
Loyd Perin

Loyd Perin holds Directorships within the Perin Property Group Pty Ltd and associated entities with extensive commercial property in the ACT and Queanbeyan region. Loyd has worked in the Australian National Audit Office and the Commonwealth Attorney General’s Department. He held senior legal and managerial positions for various corporate regulatory bodies, which were forerunners to the current Australian Securities and Investments Commission. He was past Managing Director of the Lidia Perin Memorial Hospital. The Perin family company is a significant shareholder in VBC and has been involved with the Company since its inception in 1988. He is also a Chairman of the Board of The Brassey Hotel. He is a member of the ACT Divisional Council of the Property Council and a member of the executive of the Queanbeyan Business Council.
Herbert (Bert) Roberts

Bert Roberts’ early career was as a geologist, working for seven years with the Bureau of Mineral Resources and eight years with mineral exploration companies. In 1971 he and his wife bought a controlling interest in Millers of Manuka Pty Ltd (fashion retailers) and they remain actively involved in that business and with ancillary investments. Bert is a Director of Millers of Manuka Pty Ltd, MM Adelaide Pty Ltd, Lubic Holdings Pty Ltd, The Brassey Hotel Pty Ltd and has held several ACT private sector and community organisation representative positions including past President of the Canberra Chamber of Commerce. Bert is a recipient of the Centenary medal for community service in the ACT. He is a foundation Director and a significant shareholder of VBC.
